Hiring a Contractor 101 When hireing a contractor time is money. If your business is down for alot of time it is costing you a figure per day that you should know. If you think you are saving money by going with the cheapest bid you may not be saving money. Lets say the job is costing $10,000 and the difference between my bid and the lowest bid could be $1000. With my bid there is no gambleing. I do the job and its done. No question. What many people do is focus on the savings of $1000. But what they should do is look at the $10,000. Why would you risk $10,000 to save $1000. That could be like putting the $10,000 on the craps table to save $1000. Do business with someone you trust. If you dont feel comfortable enought to leave the person you hire with your kids, Why would you hire them. Think of the person doing work as a person and dont look at the prices. Throw out the people you dont trust without even looking at the price. Remember it is your money and you can be putting it all on the craps table to risk saving a few hundred dollars!!!!
